Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit or buy from tangens-watches.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.
1. Who is responsible
Tangens Watches ApS is the data controller.

2. What we collect and why
When you buy a watch
- Data: name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, the products you buy, and your order history.
- Why: to process and deliver your order, send order and delivery updates, and handle returns and warranty claims. The carrier needs your phone number for delivery updates and, outside the EU, for customs.
- Legal basis: to perform our contract with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). We keep accounting records because Danish bookkeeping law requires it (article 6(1)(c)).
- How long: order and accounting records for 5 years from the end of the financial year they belong to, as the Danish Bookkeeping Act requires. Once we’re registered for the EU’s One-Stop Shop VAT scheme, records of sales to other EU countries are kept for 10 years, as that scheme requires.
When you pay
- Data: card and payment details are entered directly with our payment providers. We receive the payment status, card type and the last four digits of the card, never the full card number.
- Providers: Stripe processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments. Klarna processes Klarna payments and is responsible for its own processing, including any credit check, under Klarna’s privacy notice.
- Legal basis: to perform our contract with you (article 6(1)(b)), and to prevent fraud (article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest).
When you contact us
- Data: your name, email and the content of your message, from email or the contact form.
- Why: to answer you and help with your order.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (article 6(1)(f)), or our contract with you if the question concerns an order (article 6(1)(b)).
- How long: 24 months after the case is closed, unless it forms part of an order record.
When you sign up for our newsletter
- Data: your email address, your signup date and source, and whether you open or click our emails.
- Why: to send you news about releases and offers, including the welcome discount.
- Legal basis: your consent (article 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in every email.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep a suppression record of your email address, so we don’t email you again.
- Provider: Klaviyo.
To show the right prices for your country
- Data: your IP address.
- How: when you first visit, our server looks up your country from your IP address in a database that runs on our own server. Your IP address is not sent to anyone else for this. We store your delivery country and currency in a cookie for one year, whether it was detected or chosen by you.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing correct prices, VAT and delivery information (article 6(1)(f)).
Address lookup at checkout
When you type your address at checkout, what you type is sent to Google to suggest matching addresses. This makes the address quicker to enter and reduces delivery errors. You don’t have to pick a suggestion; you can type the full address yourself.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in accurate deliveries (article 6(1)(f)).
- Provider: Google (Google Maps Platform).
Our Instagram posts
Our front page shows our latest Instagram posts. The images are copied to and served from our own server, so your browser doesn’t contact Instagram or Meta when you view the page. Instagram only receives data if you click a post, which opens it on instagram.com under Instagram’s own privacy policy.
Analytics and marketing cookies
With your consent, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to measure and improve our advertising:
- Google Analytics and Google Ads, via Google Tag Manager
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel
- Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used, for example clicks and scrolling. It doesn’t record what you type into forms.
- Legal basis: your consent (article 6(1)(a)), given through our cookie banner. See section 5.
Security and fraud prevention
- Data: IP address, device and browser information, and order details.
- Why: to protect the site and our customers, and to prevent payment fraud.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
3. Who we share data with
We only share what each party needs to do its job:
- Hosting: Simply.com (Denmark) hosts our website and its database.
- Shipping: Shipmondo (Denmark) runs our shipping and pickup-point selection. GLS delivers in Denmark and DHL Express everywhere else. They receive your name, address, email and phone number.
- Payments: Stripe and Klarna, as described above.
- Email: Klaviyo, for our newsletter. Microsoft 365, for our email and the contact form.
- Analytics and advertising: Google, Meta and Microsoft, only with your consent.
- Cookie consent: Cookiebot (Usercentrics), which stores your cookie choices.
- Our accountant, for bookkeeping.
- Authorities, such as customs and tax authorities, when the law requires it.
We don’t sell your personal data.
4. Transfers outside the EU
Some of these providers are based in, or use subprocessors in, the United States, including Google, Meta, Microsoft, Stripe and Klaviyo. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, it is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified, or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
5. Cookies
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks which cookies you accept. Necessary cookies, such as your cart, your delivery country and your cookie choice, are always used. Statistics and marketing cookies are only used if you accept them.
You can see every cookie we use, and change or withdraw your consent at any time, through Cookie settings in the footer.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the personal data we hold about you
- have incorrect data corrected
- have your data deleted, unless we must keep it by law, for example for bookkeeping
- restrict our processing, or object to processing based on our legitimate interest
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before
To use any of these rights, email contact@tangens-watches.com. We answer within one month.
